If you feel that Quaker Meeting is right for you, but that you are still on the fringes of the Meeting, you may find these suggestions helpful.
The current building at Friargate was opened in 1981, but the first Meeting House in this area was opened in 1674. For more information, read the attached document written by David Rubinstein.
We offer:
Hello, welcome to Friargate Link Group. We are some Quakers from York who attend Friargate weekly to take part in different activities, run by different people from the meeting. We are of secondary school age. There are other groups for the younger children of primary and pre-school age. They all take part in different activities from crafts to baking and playing games!
Friargate has groups for children and young people of all ages. The crèche is for children under the age of 3. Fox group is for children aged between 3 and 5, Penn group for those aged 6 to 7 and Fell group is for the 8 to 11 year olds. For young people at secondary school there is a Link Group. These groups operate each Sunday.
Children go into Meeting for the first quarter of an hour, from 10:30am, and then go out to take part in their activities.
Welcome to Friargate Meeting. We would be happy for you to look round and to join us at our meeting for worship on Sundays at 10:30am.
