Friargate is looked after full-time by helpful and cheerful staff.
Its affordable facilities have become increasingly popular in the city over recent years.
Some users value the venue for its privacy. Others appreciate the calm atmosphere and the secluded garden and terraces.
The meeting house has grown to be a convenient and friendly home to varied local and national organisations, both voluntary and commercial.
Above all, Friargate tries to meet the varying needs of our comnmunity.
After consultation with our users, we recently undertook a wide-reaching and exciting refurbishment and extension of the building.
This included a lift, extending accessibility for all users, a long-standing concern of ours.
We also addressed some environmental issues to improve the sustainability of the building.
New rooms were added, other rooms improved and the foyer opened up.
We hope that you might regard the Meeting House as your Friargate, too.
Rooms in the refurbished building are well-equipped to meet very varied needs.
New rooms in sizes that users of the building increasingly require have been added.
Large public meetings, smaller gatherings, self-help groups, committee meetings and one-to-one counselling can now all be catered for.
An extended foyer provides a comfortable area for waiting, chatting or reading.
And the meeting house is open six days and four evenings a week.
